Lafayette Randant, Jr., 91,was born in Collinsville, IL, to Lafayette and Lilley Randant. He was one of 9 siblings. He died Dec 28, 2015 after a battle with cancer. As a Marine in WWII he fought in the battles of Peleleu and Okinawa. Lafayette is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris (nee Rood), sons Gary (Paula, nee Peyton), and Ken, grandchildren Kimberly Murray (John), Gary Jr. (Deana, nee Homrighausen) and great-grandsons Jakob Lafayette Murray, Sam Murray and Nicholas and Matthew Randant.
Lafayette was a skilled craftsman in the construction trades as a painter for over 40 years . He transferred his skills to creating beautiful works of art (40+), using paint by number pictures that were always in demand by family and friends.
Visitation is on Saturday, Jan 9 from 1-5 p.m. with services at 5 p.m. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Road (at Northwest Highway), Mount Prospect.
